Earlier today at a specially scheduled meeting of the Lake George Park Commission (LGPC) held in the Town of Hague the Commissioners passed two very important resolutions for moving us forward in protecting Lake George from aquatic invasive species. The first resolution approved the revised Draft Regulations to Prohibit Aquatic Invasive Species Introductions to Lake George and released them to the public for comment. This updated version of the draft regulations is available online and will be available for public comment until January 18th, 2014.
The Commissioners also passed a revision to the Lake George Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Plan and Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement (GEIS) which they had approved at their regular monthly meeting last week to now include the potential for staffing at state launches up to 24 hours per day. Both documents, the Draft Regulations and the Final GEIS can be found on the LGPC’s website.
The LGPC also announced that a scheduled meeting of the Lake George Park Commission Aquatic Invasive Species Committee will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Bolton Town Hall, Main Street, Bolton Landing, NY. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Discussion will focus on planning for a mandatory trailered boat inspection program for the 2014 season, as described in the recently approved GEIS.
